TITLE:
KOI POND
ARTIST: MALI SHU
I began taking drawing classes at Las Positas College in 2000.
In 2001 I participated in the Las Positas College Spring Art
Festival and won the first prize of "College Purchase Award".
Last year I had the honor of winning the second prize from Livermore
Art Association at the 30th Annual Las Positas College Fine Art
Festival. I am a member of the Las Positas College Art Club and
past member of the Pleasanton Art League.
Ever since I was little, I liked to observe beautiful things
found in nature or created by human beings. I also loved to draw
and dreamt of becoming an artist someday. When I moved with my
family to the East Bay, I was lucky to have their support as
I fulfilled my childhood dream.
In our fast-paced world, people are always in a hurry without
time to slow down and appreciate the beautiful world that we
live in or the people that we love. To be an artist, you need
to take the time to stand back and observe your surroundings
with your heart. A blank canvas or piece of paper is like an
artist's heaven, she/he can create anything on it. When I paint,
I feel joy, peace and calm. Outside noise becomes quiet and
time stops as I immerse myself in my own world. I hope people
who see my artwork can share the joy of creating with me too.
